Eggcellent - Eggs Are Great!

Eggcellent - Eggs Are Great! It seems that Nanny's anti egg campaigns of the past, in which she warned us of the alleged dangers of the cholesterol content of eggs, were a load of bollocks.

A paper prepared by the British Nutrition Foundation states that the cholesterol in eggs has only a small, and clinically insignificant, effect on blood cholesterol.

In fact, the British Heart Foundation (BHF) revised its advice on egg consumption over two years ago and no longer suggests a maximum of three eggs a week.

The Food Standards Agency also says that most people have no reason to worry about the number of eggs they eat a week.

Therefore why did Nanny in the past tell us to eat less eggs?

Why does she insist on giving us advice based on dodgy "research"?

The question is, which is the dodgy research, the old or the new. Or both? http://ciarang.com/posts/eggspert-advice

The secret to health is this; Everything in moderation.

Eating too much of anything will eventually do you harm. Even drinking too much water will harm you and yet water is essential to life.

I wonder how many people actually worry themselves into ill health....All that stress worrying about what you're eating can't be doing you any good can it?

If you cut out all the things you love to eat and drink and stop taking part in activities that carry a little risk, you won't actually live longer; It will just seem like it due to boredom!!

Eat Less, Move More, Live Longer, Pay more Tax!!

  3. Tonk (above) is quite correct.

Swallowing too much of anything the government "gives" you has a deleterious effect pursuant to the state of being entirely or partially non-deceased.

The odd thing about "official" research and research results is that they have always tasted better with a large pinch of salt. ...

    Tut tut Tonk.

"Eat Less, Move More, Live Longer, Pay more Tax!!"

Live longer is really not allowed you know. That nice Mr. Attenborough from the telly says so, as does jolly Mr. Porrit. Gordon won't like it either since his income would turn to outgoings.

Oh, and moving more is both dangerous and carbon emitting which some might think confuses the message a little but so long as when talking about one we always blatantly ignore the other none of the denizens will notice.

I conclude that most of of the current post-scientific period research is little more than a shell game.

Tonk: "The secret to health is this: Everything in moderation."

I'm just a passerby from across the pond that found this blog through a link. I would shake my head and say "You Brits..." but things aren't much better over here in the states, I'm afraid!

Anyhoo, I wanted to make a comment on that quote, as its a question I've always wanted to ask...

Do people who preach moderation live in moderation, or do they, probably unbeknownst to them, hang out somewhere above/below the middle? Water, for example, as mentioned by Tonk. We know that something like 3 gallons of water in a single day will hurt you and that too little every day will do the same. Between 0 and 48 is 24 (cups). Do moderates drink 24 cups/1.5 gallons of water every day?

I doubt it. So why do they preach moderation? Because it just sounds sensible. Why does it sound sensible? I don't know... it just does! But then again, so did a lot of nanny health advice seem sensible to people. Which is why I don't like moderates either. They preach just as much and are more than likely hypocrites at that.

    No offense, Tonk! :)
