Horrornation Street

Ena SharplesMy sympathies to the good people of Manchester, who are to be used by Nanny as guinea pigs in her id card scheme.

Manchester has been selected as the first place in the UK where Nanny's id cards are to be rolled out on "voluntary" basis. Those who are so inclined can buy one of these things for £30.

Here is a link to why id cards are bollocks, also do remember that if the so called terrorist threat comes from British born citizens, then they will have an id card.

This is just another way for the government to raise taxes, a nice little earner!

Who in their right mind would voluntarily give Nanny more money to waste?

Nanny is going to get chemists and shops, as well as post offices to take finger prints etc for her ID scheme and database.....I hereby vow, that any business that signs up to be Nanny's helper with this scheme will never have my custm again.
If enough people took a similar view, at least one large high street pharmacy group would shy away from getting involved.

    Hear hear Tonk !

I too will boycott any business that signs up for this. (Since this blog got my boycott of Tesco started, loads of people in my family, at my work and in my social circle have started boycotting them too !)

Me too. I'm totally against these things. And to add insult to injury, the people who sign up for one have to pay for the dubious
    'privilege'!

You know, of all the places to trial ID cards, the place that has only just told the Government to go stick its congestion charging policy back up the dark and smelly place it came from would be the last of 'em.

I trust the good and mostly fairly impecunious citizens of Manchester will tell Nanny where to stick this one too.

  9. I too hope the inhabitants of my native city will deploy their customary common sense and say "No, thanks" to Nanny's castor oil.

What Manchester thinks today the rest of the country thinks tomorrow (watch out, Hazel Blears!)

I trust that any Mancunians who do buy them (MPs on their expenses?) will find they have purchased some very rare collectors' pieces.
